The Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) of the Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested one Mr Terver Upper Charles in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital on suspicion of impersonation.
The police said the suspect was arrested for posing as either the vice-chancellor or registrar of FULafia at different times and defrauded unsuspecting people from within and outside the state.
The suspect had been linked to fraudulent awards of contracts in the name of the University.
He was arrested by a team of detectives from the State Investigation Bureau (SIB) Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The suspect, currently in detention and helping the police to unravel the situation, was paraded before the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia, Prof Shehu Abdul Rahman, his deputy, Prof Idris Amali, Registrar, Abubakar Mamuda, and other staff of the University.
It is expected that at the end of their investigation, the police would take the suspect to court.
